Privacy Policy

The short version

ISTCKonnect exists to connect ISTCians — that's it. Your data helps us do that. We don't sell it, we don't mine it, and we don't share it with anyone who isn't part of this community. You're in control.

What we collect

When you register, you give us:

• Your name, email, batch year, trade, and roll number
• Your current location (city level — for the world map)
• Your job title, company, and LinkedIn (optional — you can leave these blank)
• A profile photo (optional)

We also store your login activity and any content you post (opportunities, comments). Your device sends us standard server log data (IP, browser type) when you visit — this is automatic and the same for every website you visit.

What we do with it

• Show you on the directory and map — so batchmates can find you
• Send you OTP login emails — our only transactional emails
• Let you post and apply for opportunities — your name and profile are visible to other verified ISTCians
• Improve the platform — aggregated, anonymised usage data only

That's the full list. Nothing else.

What we never do

• Sell your data to anyone — ever
• Share your contact details with third parties without your permission
• Send you marketing emails or newsletters (unless you explicitly opt in)
• Show ads targeted at you using your personal information

Who can see your profile

Verified ISTCians can see your full profile — name, batch, trade, location, job, and anything else you've chosen to fill in. Unverified visitors see only your name and batch on the public directory. Your email and phone are never shown to other members.

Your rights

You can, at any time:

• Edit your profile — update or remove any information
• Delete your account — email us and we'll remove your data within 7 days
• Ask what we hold — we'll tell you exactly what's in your record

Third-party services

We use Google OAuth as an optional login method — Google's privacy policy applies to that flow. We use Google Maps for location autocomplete during registration. That's the extent of third-party data sharing.

Data security

Passwords aren't stored — we use OTP-based login. Your session is encrypted. The platform runs on HTTPS. We take reasonable care, but no system is perfect — if you ever spot something concerning, please tell us immediately.
