This course was started in 1977 with the collaboration of the Government of Switzerland and is one of the original flagship programmes of ISTC. It is of four years (eight semesters) duration with 30 seats.
Course structure
The first three years are common with the Diploma in Mechanical Engineering (Tool and Die). The fourth year is dedicated to specialisation in Die and Mould Making, with advanced training on specialised machines and equipment as per industry need.
On successful completion of the training, the trainee is awarded the Advanced Diploma in Die and Mould Making.
Workshop practice (Year 4)
Advanced training on CNC milling and programming, Vertical Machining Centre (VMC), EDM Machine, Wire-cut EDM Machine, injection moulding machine, RPT, Micromachining, CMM Machine, CIM Systems. Practical training on Pro/E and MasterCAM software. Practicals on die and mould making. Extensive workbench training on assembly of Press Tools, Moulds, Jigs and Fixtures. Design and development of industrial problems and components of R and D projects. Maintenance of machine tools. Project works.

Career outcomes
Graduates of this programme are skilled in fabrication of precision components and their assembly, CNC technology, jig boring, EDM and wirecut EDM, manufacture of injection and compression moulds, press tools, jigs and fixtures, FMS, CIM, and RPT. They are in high demand across Indian industry and have built successful careers both in India and abroad.
