Reservation Policy

Of the total 180 seats across all four courses, reservation is applied as follows, per Government of India norms.

Vacant seats of appropriate categories will be filled as per Government of India norms.

OBC reservation

OBC reservation is available only to the Non-Creamy Layer as per Government of India rules. Candidates applying under OBC must submit a valid certificate issued by the competent authority. The certificate must pertain to the relevant financial year and be issued after 31 March of the preceding financial year, in the prescribed format.

EWS reservation

EWS reservation is available to candidates not covered under SC, ST, or OBC reservation, whose family gross annual income from all sources is below Rs 8.00 lakh, and who do not own or possess any of the following:

• Agricultural land of 5 acres or more
• Residential flat of 1000 square feet or more
• Residential plot of 100 square yards or more in notified municipalities
• Residential plot of 200 square yards or more in areas other than notified municipalities

The benefit of EWS reservation can be availed upon production of an Income and Asset Certificate issued by a competent authority in the prescribed format.

PWD reservation

Four percent of seats are horizontally reserved for specially abled candidates with disability in one leg or one arm, and partially deaf or blind persons. These seats are filled per the merit list of physically challenged candidates, drawn from the seats pertaining to the category to which the candidate belongs (General, OBC, EWS, SC, or ST).

PWD candidates must produce a medical certificate showing minimum 40 percent disability from a Government Medical Officer authorised for the purpose, along with a fitness certificate from an authorised medical practitioner or board recommending the candidate to be deemed fit for skill based practical training at ISTC.
