ISTC entrance exam 2026 — marks and OMR sheets sent, representation window now open

ISTC has sent marks and OMR sheet copies to candidates who appeared in the 2026 entrance exam. This is the representation window -- if you find a genuine discrepancy, you can email the Principal's office before the official result is published. Here is exactly what to check and how to raise an issue.

ISTC has sent out individual marks along with OMR sheet copies to candidates who appeared in the 2026 entrance examination. This is a standard and important step in the process — before the final merit list and result are published, candidates get the opportunity to review their own answer sheet and raise a representation if they find a genuine discrepancy.

If you have received your marks and OMR sheet, here is exactly what it means and what you can do now.

What you have received

Candidates are being sent two things:

  • Your marks — the score you obtained in the entrance examination.
  • A copy of your OMR sheet — the actual answer sheet you filled, as it was scanned and evaluated.

This transparency allows you to verify that your responses were captured and evaluated correctly. It is a fair process — you can see exactly how your sheet was read.

What to do right now — check your OMR carefully

Go through your OMR sheet methodically:

  • Confirm your roll number and personal details are correctly recorded.
  • Check that the responses shown match what you actually marked in the exam.
  • Verify the total marks awarded against the answers shown.
  • Look for any question where a response you clearly marked appears to have been read as blank or incorrect.

In most cases, the OMR reading will be accurate — modern OMR scanning is highly reliable. But the representation window exists precisely so that any genuine error can be flagged and corrected before the result is finalised.

The representation window — how to raise an issue

This is the current window for representation. If, after reviewing your marks and OMR sheet, you believe there is a genuine discrepancy — an error in reading your responses, in totalling, or in your recorded details — you can raise a representation with ISTC.

How to submit your representation:

  • Email the office of the Principal, ISTC, at principalistc.csio@csir.res.in with full details of your issue.
  • Clearly state your name, roll number, and application number.
  • Describe the specific discrepancy — for example, which question, what you marked, and how it appears on the OMR sheet.
  • Attach a copy of the OMR sheet you received, if possible, and reference the marks communicated to you.
  • Keep your email clear, factual, and specific. A precise representation is easier to verify and act upon.

Submit your representation promptly. Representation windows are time-bound, and once the official result is published, the opportunity to raise a discrepancy on the pre-result marks may close. Do not wait until the last moment.

What happens after the representation window

Once the representation window closes and any genuine discrepancies have been reviewed, ISTC will publish the official result and merit list on the institute website. The merit list will be category-wise and course-wise, and shortlisted candidates will then be called for counselling.

The official result will be published on istc.ac.in — under the results section. ISTCKonnect will also update its result page the moment the official result is announced.

Important — keep everything ready for counselling

Whether or not you raise a representation, keep all your documents ready for the counselling stage that follows the result. Shortlisted candidates will need original Class 10 marksheet and certificate, admit card, category certificate (if applicable), a recent Aadhaar card, domicile certificate, and passport-size photographs.

A note for candidates

Receiving your marks and OMR sheet before the result is a fair and transparent step. Use it well — review your sheet carefully, and if there is a genuine issue, raise it clearly and promptly through the proper channel. If your OMR looks correct and your marks match, then simply prepare for the next stage: the result, the merit list, and counselling.

For any queries, ISTC can be reached at 0172-2672484 / 2672485, or the Principal's office at principalistc.csio@csir.res.in.
