ISTC Eligibility Criteria 2027
To apply to ISTC you need to have passed Class 10 (or be awaiting the result) with Mathematics, Science and English, scoring at least 50% marks (40% for SC/ST). In 2026, candidates had to be born on or after 1 August 2007 (1 August 2004 for SC/ST).

Age limit for 2027
The 2026 brochure set the cut-off date of birth at 1 August 2007 for General, OBC and EWS candidates, and 1 August 2004 for SC/ST candidates. If the limit moves forward by one year with the cycle, the 2027 limit would be born on or after 1 August 2008 (1 August 2005 for SC/ST). Treat this as expected until the 2027 brochure confirms it.
Marks: what counts
The percentage is your aggregate Class 10 percentage, or the equivalent CGPA. You must have studied all three subjects (Mathematics, Science, English) in Class 10. The 50% and 40% minimums apply to your Class 10 result, not to the entrance exam.
Students awaiting Class 10 results
The 2026 brochure lists "Matric result: Passed or Awaited", so you can apply before your board result. You must meet the marks requirement by counselling, where original certificates are checked.
Common reasons applications fail
- A category certificate issued before the cut-off date (in 2026: on or after 01 April 2026 for OBC and EWS).
- An OBC certificate from a state list rather than the Central Government list. Only the central list was accepted in 2026.
- Mismatched details between the form and Class 10 documents. The brochure says information in the form is taken as final.
